Had a great visit to the zoo. We arrived just as the various animal talks were starting which was great - it made our visit a whole lot more enjoyable. The enthusiasm and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. Although it was small we found all the animals looking very happy and well cared for. There was a small cafe which had some cheap and tasty lunch options and drinks.

We would highly recommend a visit!

What a great little gem of a place this is. Well worth the entrance fee. They deserve support. Lots of varied animals and easy to take it all in.

We had a terrific day here. The staff obviously love the animals and have good knowledge which they are happy to share. Recommend planning your visit around the talks which are informative. We did some additional encounters which were really fantastic.

Surprisingly big with a lot to see. As someone who has been to Australia zoo multiple times. Darling Downs zoo surprised me. It's small but there are so many animals to see and it means that the kids don't get tired out too quickly. Was a great experience.

We took four adults, two toddlers, and two kids. There was something for everyone. You will need a hat, water and sunscreen. We also applied bug spray as its mosquito season.

Definitely should have got an annual pass as the kids are keen to go back already.

Definitely take a stroller or your kids' beach wagon with you if you have little ones. It's a large zoo, and you don't want to miss the exhibits at the top of the hill. It's very much worth the hike!

Bring a wheelchair if need be. The pathways around are gravel and dirt but very easy to navigate. Lots of seats for older visitors to take a break as you explore also.

Amazing zoo with a great range of animals. The rangers did an amazing job explaining everything to us.

Beautiful drive out. Got there at 9 and we were the only ones there for a bit, which was perfect sensory session for our autistic kids. The animals were great, lots of places to sit if need be. Kids loved hand feeding the emus. Souvenirs were reasonably priced and had something for each of our 3 kids within a budget. Iced coffee was great, staff super friendly.

Went there with my family on a Saturday. Not too busy. 2-3 hrs walk. Recommend the group guide tour, you could see the interaction with the guide and animals. If you prefer a peaceful time, please do take a insect repellent with you or prepare to be annoyed by the FLY's!! The animals ,birds and reptiles were all in real good health. For me & my family it's was a good experience and will surely visit again. We like the zoo apart from the fly part. Well if you are visiting toowoomba or passing by, add this zoo to your destinations.

I have been to every zoo in Australia and this zoo is a little rough to look at, it is amazing. The animals look healthy and happy, the talks were amazing and we went back for seconds. What an amazing day focus on animals not all the commercial rubbish other zoos have.

This place is the best zoo in South East Queensland especially for the money. The guided tour is amazing the variety of animals is awesome they even let you hold a baby alligator for free if you there early enough. Staff was amazing Marlee the guide was super knowledgeable and answered all my questions. 10/10 you have to visit you can pack your own lunch to.

I love this zoo. So many animals who all look really well cared for. Talking to some of the staff they seem so genuin and loving of their work. My partner has better photos of the bigger animals like the tigers and lions and zebra. So many animals to see. Less commercial which I also love. I don't have kids and still enjoy it but of course a great place for kids too. Some improvements coming as well so in about 6 months time it should be even better.

Definitely had a few upgrades since we were last there 9 years ago. Great to see all the different animals, well maintained grounds. Toilets clean, keepers full of information - lots to see. Lots of walking, bring hats/sunscreen/water. Cafe on site. Great little family morning out. Looks like they are still expanding and maintaining so worth the ticket price to support them.

Although it's just a dirt plot, the carpark has ample space for all visitors. The ticket ladys are very friendly and offer park maps and remarkably cheap animal food to purchase.
All of the animals look healthy, and all of the enclosures has descriptions on the inhabitants.
The park itself could do with more shade, be it trees or shade sails along the walking track, which is also just a dirt parth and it's somewhat uneven so be sure to wear safe footwear.
There are BBQs avaliable for cooking but there is no kiosk or vending machines to purchase lunch.
The staff are very informative on all of the animals and will stop to chat.

Such an amazing Zoo with a great vibe. Nice drive from Brisbane and a great spot to spend your day or half. Recommend reaching around 9:30am, grab your coffee and get ready for the guided tours. A great opportunity to see the animals up close (as not crowded) as they are fed and kids have so much fun watching them eat. Lion, tigers, cheetah, Giraffe, Hippo, Meerkats etc. looked happy and engaging.
The tour finishes around noon so right time to grab lunch (and another coffee) and enjoy some sun in the nice picnic area while kids can watch the snake as the zoo keepers bring them out.
A fun day at Darling Downs Zoo.

A smaller zoo but top quality. Just enough to fill a full day with all the animal presentations and a second leisurely walk around in your own time. Super friendly staff and keepers. Our little kids (2 and 4) loved it. Well worth the drive out for a day trip.

Wonderful wholesome zoo. I thoroughly enjoyed the zebra encounter and could not recommend doing this enough. Any thoughts I had were already answered on little notes around the zoo. Its not the biggest zoo but for me that makes it even better because you can comfortably walk around in a few hours. The animals are all clearly happy 😊 and there enclosures allow for a lot of up close and personal experiences.

I have travelled many parts of the world including Botswana and visited plenty of zoos and game parks and national parks. Nothing this close though. Seeing big cats this close was enthralling and our grandkids were mesmerised.

For a small privately owned zoo, this is a highly recommended experience.

What a fantastic day! We loved the wide variety of animals and the passion the keepers have. It's a little rustic (we actually love that as it feel really authentic) but the experience and the work this zoo does is amazing. Please visit and support them. If you love animals this is a must do
