Easy campsite to get to. Around 15 km of dirt road but easily accessible by 2 wheel drive. Nice campsite right by the river. Great fishing. Remember fishing is closed for few months. Great swimming or kayaking or paddle boarding. Clean pit toilets. Every campsite has a bench and a pit fire to share with adjacent campers. There is another gas bbq station 20 meters away. Awesome night sky.

Dreamy, remote spot on the river. Clean amenities. Lots of birds and trees The car / caravan spots are tucked away. I would recommend bringing a tent for water views, the car can be parked close by. Most sites have their own picnic bench and firepit. Definitely 4x4 track in and no phone reception. Loved all the remoteness

Have not visited or camped here for 8 years yet upon arrival the natural aussie beauty of platypus flats still struck me with awe of how lucky we are to have places like this to share and as long as visitors and campers respect this beautiful environment with its wildlife and each other we always will . A little slice of heaven on earth .

The best off grid camping we have done in a very long time. Superb grounds and a surprising number of locations to choose from. Shady trees or full sun. This place has everything you could want in a beautiful quiet getaway close to the Gold Coast or Byron.
This is a very safe place, and management is there and hands on. Tom is friendly, curious, and loves having nice visitors on his stunning property.
A highlight for us was feeding his 100 plus head off cattle, sweet potatoes 🥔.
Tom, all we can say is thanks for a superb 👌 weekend away in the country. You made us feel so welcome, and we will certainly be back as often as our weekends will allow.
Thanks again

Great quiet spot, river is great to swim in! Can take a caravan or camper quite easily (hint is to keep it in low range when getting close to camp, steep hills but easy terrain) also no phone service, but a quick 10 min drive uphill and you’ll have some 4G! If you’re staying for a few days take solar or a quiet generator! Toilets are pit type and are well maintained

Highly recommend, the tent sites are flat grass right by the waters edge. Shared fire pits and picnic tables, if you have camp neighbours. There wasn't many people camping, it was the middle of winter. Plenty of wild life to see. Also there firewood and toilets.

This is a really nice camp spot! Lovely with the grass and nice new toilet block. Lots of picnic tables and fire pits. There was firewood provided too!

Make sure you book ahead to secure yourself a spot. Not too expensive.
There is an area to the right for if you haven't reserved a spot.

The river is lovely and a few little tracks and areas to explore. Beautiful!

Watch out for the goannas...There were many wandering around!!

Absolutely AMAZING!! One of the best camping places we've been to. Beautiful location by the river. Good for fishing, swimming and kayaking. Drop toilets were clean. Free firewood. Rangers were friendly and up for a chat. Yes, there are red belly black snakes around! Even when fully booked it doesn't feel crowded. Good base to explore nearby Dorrigo National Park and Waterfall Way. We made it here just fine in our little Mazda 2 hatchback. We can't wait to come back!

Platypus Flats is an incredible place not far from Dorrigo where you most definitely enjoy the natural surroundings from rainforest exploration to kayaking down river rapids, out of reception so cannot be disturbed…

All together bliss …

We enjoyed camping on the banks of the river & just having time together..

So needed & space is where the magic is ..

I’ve got a pretty full on week ahead but now feel so refreshed… phew

If you are into camping & love getting off the grid & immersing in nature..

This certainly is an amazing place to add to your list !

It’s National park so just requires a permit online prior ..

You’ll love it to recharge

Free firewood also

So beautiful 😍 lovely and cheap spot to camp. If you don't have a 4WD I'd proceed with caution depending on the time of year you go down. But it is BUMPY, like really really bumpy and steep. Even in the landcruiser we had some teeth gritting moments. But the careful drive is worth it.

It is a beautiful and quiet spot with fire pit cooking facilities every second camp site (something to remember when booking).

Toilets are above the camp-sites on a hill and are long-drops - make sure to bring toilet paper!

You cannot pull your car up on to your camp-site unless you are on a caravan site (another thing to remember when booking). Sites were $12.60 a night. There is absolutely NO phone signal until you are about half way out of the park, which is great if you want to switch off and ignore the rest of the world for a weekend!

Spectacular location, right next to the river.
Multiple fire pits with grills for woodfired BBQs. Two tidy long drops, no water, so bring your own. Beautiful sounds, smells and scenes.

When the site is full you wouldn’t have a fire pit each, you park about 5m away from your camping spot.
Pristine site, considering how remote it is.

One of the best campgrounds we have ever stayed at. Absolutely blew our minds. So far from the main road and on the way there we were just encapsulated in this forest of giant trees. It is an amazing gem and I wish that they may be protected more from logging that will destroy habitats for vulnerable creatures. The campgrounds were well maintained, clean, and looked after. The roads are unsealed please do plan well. Better to arrive early.

It was quite tricky driving there and always check for road signs. Its pretty easy to get there but its abt 12 to 15 kms unsealed road. There are insects and bugs at night so bring insect repellant!

Will go back!

Great camping spot, beautiful river and wildlife, with decent facilities and usually nice camping neighbours. 6 allocated Campervan/caravan sites and approx 10 tent sites, some day space as well. It is a 30 min drive from the main road and the drive can get bumpy but doable in a 2 wheel drive. A few fun river crossings. Some local walks you can do from the campsite but mostly remote with the sound of the river and wildlife. The current can be strong in places, so be careful. Monitor lizards are common as are red belly black snakes. All kinds of birds as well. We got close to seeing a platypus but only heard it swim off last minute, quite a bit away from the campsite. Drop toilets are clean and well maintained. A park ranger comes by every day i think. Price for a campervan site was approx $10 per night. We had a great stay and it is so relaxing

A beautiful camp spot. Large grassy sites, right on the river. Each site has it's own camp fire. Amenities block with gas BBQs and fire wood supplied. Need to take own drinking water.

A drive over dirt roads to get here. Well worth it. Camp ground has recovered well from bushfire. All Camp spots right on water, BBQ, toilets and camp fires with picnic tables available.

Absolutely excellent, ruff road to get there, very very steep with loose large rocks, only good for a 4wd, fishing sucks but beautiful campground, there are goannas and bush turkeys who love a free feed but there is also snakes to watch out for,pre booking is a must with ranger doing daily checks
