What is it about them that I’m attracted to? It’s not a morbid thing, but more of a historical and honouring thing.
The lengths that people go to, to memorialise their loved ones in a diverse ways, which can ultimately come down to money at the time of the burial, space at the cemetery, family plots that await others to join those that have passed or perhaps even the views.
#terangcemetery is set on a hill that overlooks the district and frankly, one of the nicest cemetery views I’ve seen.
As you enter, there is an information centre with many of the plots but it’s not 100% complete but a good place to start.
The family I was looking for don’t have a headstone but their ‘plot’ is there.
Like many cemeteries they are laid out in religious denominations - Catholic, Methodist, Church of England and so on. Wonder where the atheists go?
Apparently the library in Terang is a great source of information, so check their opening hours for any research.
If for no other reason, worth w visit to view the flat landscape across Terang.
