How showers toilets are cleaned daily by volunteers, it is a donation camp site and well worth every dollar you donate. Views are spectacular also. We stayed 2 weeks and never wanted to leave. The people are very friendly, especially the caretakers who went above and beyond to make our stay a welcoming one. Shout out to all the volunteers who do an amazing job.

Fantastic dog friendly free camping site just a few minutes out from Ararat.

Flushing toilets, drinking water, hot showers and even a wash station with hot water for your dishes!

We love this spot. $5 per night donation for upkeep of the camp grounds.

Just beautiful. 😊

We stayed at Green hill Lake for 2 weeks. It is absolutte heaven here so peaceful and tranquil we don't want to leave. There's always something happening on the lake be it birds, ducks even the odd pelican , boats jet skis , great fishing we caught 2 nice rainbow trout. The park is huge plenty of room. There are toilets and HOT showers .well kept park by volunteers. They just ask that you make a donation to upkeep the maintenance of the park . We will definitely be back there's so much to do here in Ararat . We done the JWard tour we went on a ghost tour of the aradale lunatic asylum went gold prospecting went for dinner in town beautiful place we look forwards to coming back again.

This campsite just outside Ararat is Free for up to five days permit required after that. Further around the lake a permit is required at all times. Donations accepted for the up keep of the grounds and thoroughly deserving of such and suporting the local businesses would be great.
Very popular for obvious reasons with clean flushing toilets and hot showers . Also has a boat ramp dont know about the fishing though .
Highly recommended and big thanks to all people involved in supplying this wonderful
Place.

Great Scenic views, camp sites A1, unfortunately was so busy this weekend that some drainage was blocked up. But overall apart from the park needing a plumber, that was only think we need to be aware of. And we worked around it as there is more than one Toilet and shower block free to use here, Donations box are attached and I’ve already donated my $5. As recommended. I’m with 5 other people and there is plenty of room to stretch out and space between each camp site. No cost and No allocated areas. Go Camping here and make sure to bring Toilet paper, it is provided, and topped up each day. Buts because of Grand Final Weekend every Woman, Man and his Dog was here! And it’s was a busy period. But still thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here

Beautiful lake. Great for kayaking. Close to bike track into Ararat. Many camp sites near the lake edge. Flushing toilets, playground, Bbq area, boat ramp, dump point, potable water and garbage bins. A few permanents but did not unsafe. Dirt road into reserve is currently being graded. Well done to the volunteers who help maintain the area. Donation $5 Per night appreciated.

Even though it was inclement weather the place was packed with campers caravans and motorhomes. The showers were hot and clean, the police patrolled several times while we were there. What a great place to spend a day or so. Please don't forget to put your donation in the Redbox outside the shower block, it helps to keep the facilities in top notch condition for both you and I.

Why hadn't I stopped here before? Over 30 years driving up and back to the Grampians and Mt Arapiles, I'd never taken the time to stop and so wish I had. Arriving around 8am to use the toilets, I was greeted with the most stunning view across the water back to Langi Ghiran and the wind farm turbines in the distance.
Abundant bird life added to the magic and a slight mist rising from the water made for an etherial experience.
If you follow the road around to the right of the lake you'll find the main camping area. There are many variations of campers were staying there - camper trailers, tents, caravans, minibuses and everything between. Some were quite fancy and others very simple. But all had spread themselves out from each other, making the most of seizing themselves a little piece of paradise here at Green Hill Lake. A note for campers to be aware of the trees and not to camp under them. Some of the larger trees are very old river red gums. Majestic. But also known to drop branches without waring. Although there are no camping fees, it's nice to add a donation to the suggestion box.
Facilities include picnic shelters (good for undercover cooking on wet days), toilets with the added bonus of free hot showers and powerpoints. There is also a playground and the barbecues are free. Plenty of rubbish bins but ideal that you take your own rubbish home so aminals and birds don't open the bins.
Boat ramp is available, please observe the signs.
Plenty of wildlife around particularly birds but fishing available as well plus the mandatory kangaroos, emus, echidnas, wombats, possums and more.
The water from the taps is drinkable with no worries of contamination.
Only 4kms east of the medium sized town of Ararat, with a paved track to and from the site which is handy. The locals enjoy coming here as well from fishing (stocked with trout), boating, swimming, having a picnic or barbeque and even bushwalking (it's quite flat).
Wheelchair accessible in most parts. Definintely kid friendly with lots to do.
Dogs are permitted if on a leash. Please pick up their poop and dispose of appropriately.
Notes: beware of snakes.
A must visit and well worth stopping for a few hours and enjoying the views.

Great campsite with nice view of the lake and heaps of space for tents and caravans. I have always been camping here during my road trips and have had enjoyable experiences. Being quite close to Ararat is another advantage.

Beautiful, serene and picturesque lake with a backdrop of wind turbines. It has a plenty of camping area with nice public toilets and showers. It can get really busy during the peak times.

The last leg of the road to the lake is quite dusty and it's best to drive slowly so as not to shower campers with the powdered dust. Garbage bins, barbeque facilities and taps are provided. Very close to the Ararat town for all your shopping needs.

Overall, it's a nice free camping site closer to the Grampians or can be used as a pit stop on the way to Grampians. Very well maintained and beautiful spot!

I'm really enjoying it here. I love to get away from the crowds so I'm enjoying the sounds of birds and nature. The amenities are spot on! Toilet blocks, a lovely grassy picnic area with b.b.q. provided, and a boat ramp; though the waters a tad low at the moment. Do come and explore this fantastic place. I know you won't be disappointed. Oh yes it's not too far out of town either.

Beautiful free campsite. With cleen toilets and showers, plenty of bins, beautiful park for the kids, and a covered cooking area. We had a cookout and kayaked for the day. Only thing is the cooking area has no lights but otherwise it was great!
