Desi Swag

We stopped for dinner at Ararat while traveling back to Melbourne from South Australia. The Indian (Punjabi) cuisine at Desi swag is amazing. A simple dal tadka also tasted so good.

Fools is really yummy. Everything was delicious. We ordered a lot of things. A great food stop back from Adelaide. Service can be little slow but it’s worth the wait. Must try!

Best chicken tikka of all places and coconut goat curry was awsome, i really recommend to visit this place on the way to grampians.

Staying in Ararat on a Monday night and I’m so glad this place was open. I ordered my food to takeaway - butter chicken, naan, saffron rice (classic white person order), and it was AMAZING! It is so obvious that the food is cooked from scratch, with freshly ground spices and flavour. 10/10. Would suggest ordering over the phone beforehand if you’re in a hurry (good things take time)

Some of the best indian food I've had in my life! Everything was fantastic, including the goat, chicken curry, and fish curry, and will definitely come back again.

Food very good with affordable prices. Nice and quiet and relaxing environment to enjoy the food. Staff pleasant. Had the best butter chicken dish I have had for some time.

Pleasant meal, busy restaurant with hard working staff. A wide range of different Indian curries that had lots of options for gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian. Would love to visit again, the left overs made a solid breakfast too!

Our food was absolutely amazing. We ate everything. The staff were lovely, and couldn't do enough. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the area.

Had the vegetarian banquet, everything was lovely. From the start, they would at least ask for your spice tolerance for the curries so I'm sold that they care. Started with beetroot tikka which i hate the mention of beetroot but my God did i like it. Moving onto samosa, perfect, light pastry shell with good fillings. My only regret is not asking for medium spice because the mains could have been perfect with that extra hint of spiciness. Other than that, ended the night with my number 1 Gulab Jamun in Melbourne so far.

Very beautiful and clean restaurant. We stopped there for dinner on the way home to Melbourne from the Grampians. Lived in Melbourne for 5 years but couldn’t find good Indian restaurant. This one is the best I’ve ever been to in Victoria. Very friendly waiter and food was amazing. If anyone driving through must try this gem.

Hands down one of the best subcontinental food you can get to taste . I’ve been to a lot of Indian restaurants and I don’t think anything compares to Desi Swag. Staff are friendly and the food is fresh and always spot on. Good work guys ! Keep it up

Such a great food 😋 its very tasty food mostly the butter chicken and biryani’s no.1 . They made our trip to grampion national park best and i recommend everyone who love indian food must visit this place

I had Coconut Goat Curry and Butter Nan. It was so tasty🥰.. Liked it so much. The gravy was so delicious.

The best Indian we’ve had (and we have a lot of it!). We had to wait over 45 mins, which was the only negative (and I think the waitress should let people know up front when there’s a long wait), but the food tasted so amazing that it was worth waiting for. We had the Punjab Butter Chicken (med), and regular Butter Chicken (mild), plus Saffron Rice, and Naan - everything was superb!!
