By Moonlight

We had a great stay at By Moonlight. The unit has an amazing view of the fields and ocean. You can just see the Twelve Apostles. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with amenities. The place was quiet and great for star gazing. We also spotted a group of Kangaroos. We highly recommend this place to stay near the Twelve Apostles.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and we had a fantastic time. The accommodation was first class, very clean and spacious. All the little extra things that were in our accommodation was so lovely. We woke up to kangaroos at the front of our accommodation which was an unexpected but beautiful to see.

What an amazing place. The cabins are beautifully designed, clean and provide a magnificent view over the coastline. We were welcomed by kookaburras on the deck and on dusk a small mob of kangaroos were grazing just in front of the cabin. A short drive to Wreck Bay provided a reasonable walk onto the beach and a dose of history with shipwrecked anchors on the coast. The night sky was clear and the stars were beaming all around. Everything was perfect. Great place to stay and we will be back.

Absolutely beautiful views of the coastline and cute 2-bed units! It was so nice here that we opted to spend a day a home rather than go exploring. What a treat! Highly recommend! Also much thanks to the birds and kangaroos that paid our unit a visit. Definitely felt like an oasis in the forest.

Simply Amazing! The well equipped houses are super modern, the view is stunning. We were surrounded by beautiful birds and a kangaroo family.

So beautiful and serene. The view was stunning, the accomodation was bright and modern with great amenities. Beds were really comfy. We loved it. LOVED seeing the kangaroos and kookaburras while having our meals out on the deck. Only 20 mins from the Twelve Apostles. Hosts were lovely and so great to deal with. We’ll be back!

We accidentally came across this place when our other accommodation was cancelled on arrival. This turned out to be far better and was a fantastic place to stay. Thanks Carolyn.
Watch out for the kangaroos of a night time, lots around. Such a beautiful sunset looking down to the water. Magical.

Carolyn and Alister are ultimate hosts. Beautiful 2 bedroom cabins (3 of them) set on farmland overlooking the Southern Ocean. Kangaroos and bird life were mesmerising to watch from our balcony. Lots of space inside our beautifully decorated cabin, ultra modern with superior fixtures. Fabulous Nespresso coffe machine and huge coffee cups. And the biggest deepest bath I have seen! We are going back ...

Every possible thing has been provided. Beautiful comfortable beds. A gorgeous bath and even bath salts. Fabulous scenery with lots of kookaburras and kangaroos outside the cabin. Amazing

Beautiful 'cottages' set back in the hill off of Great Ocean Road. Good sized place with full kitchen facilities, two double bedrooms and a shower room. All looked brand new and was well equipped. The owners are lovely and welcomed us as they live on the same site. Great view of Twelve Apostles area (though too far too see the apostles themselves) during the day and at night you will see more stars than you've ever seen before. Truly wonderful.

The moment you pull up to your cabin/accommodation you'll remember this review.
As you pull up, your accommodation will greet you with a very modern style design cabin, coupled with its own private park.
The door has its own code (that management will send you the morning of your check in).
But the real treat comes when you open the door. At the end of the halfway, you're greeted with an unparalleled view of the western hillsides and coast line.. Just wait until sunset.
Not failing to mention that management are extremely friendly and very welcoming.
Could not recommend this place enough for a get away to switch off from everything.

Beautiful accommodation. The bed was so comfortable! Everything was very clean and well appointed.

Close to Lavers Hill where there is a lovely restaurant. Not to far from Port Campbell either.

Absolutely stunning place!!! Love the host, Alistair and Carolyn, very welcoming and warm couple. How I wish I could spend another week there, just slipping a cup of tea and spotting kangaroos in the morning. We are in Melbourne city now and am missing the stay at by moonlight badly. We will definitely be back very soon! :)

Wonderful place. We were placed here by Walk 91 as we were doing an assisted Great Ocean Walk. Wow were we amazed. Views, facilities, everything. Highly recommended.
Oh... and of course you can watch the sun setting over the ocean from your balcony....

By Moonlight is one of the best places we have stayed in Australia. The home, the view and the natural beauty surrounding the area is unparalleled. You can sit outside for hours admiring the view and the exotic (exotic to us city slickers!) birds and even wildlife that roam around.

The owners Alistair and Carolyn are a delight, and the amenities provided in the rooms are top-of-the range. Rooms are modern, cosy and comfortable and incredibly light-filled. The location is perfect, just a fun 15 minutes drive downhill to the Twelve Apostles and 20 to Port Campbell. It is definitely worth driving a bit further than Lorne to see the beauty of this paradise-on-a-hill. Better yet, you will be based in a convenient location which allows you to explore beautiful areas such as Warrnambool and Port Fairy. Don't stop at Lorne, do the entire Great Ocean Road! :)

This was one of the most unexpected relaxing weekends away we have had for a very long time.

Thank you for providing us with the necessities to make this happen from the bathroom soaps to the beautiful scenery.

You have really outdone yourselves providing your guests with the tranquility of this perfect getaway.

Comfortable, immaculate cottages with all the ‘mod cons’. Tranquil, peaceful surroundings. From the balcony we watched the sun setting over the southern ocean as kangaroos came out to feed and kookaburras laughing “from the old gum trees”. King parrots coming to rest on the wire fence and also lucky enough to spot an echidna scratching in the grass. We were able to use the outdoor BBQ area while enjoying the magnificent surroundings of By Moonlight. We slept soundly that night. Woke early to watch the kangaroos hop off into the bushland and the birds singing to the rising sun. Coffee from a coffee machine! and muesli on the balcony was an added bonus supplied in the room.

Beautiful place. The rooms are fully kitted out and really really comfortable. The view is amazing. The owners care about your holiday and a lovely people.

By far the most amazing place we have ever stayed at, we will defiantly be back! A hidden gem just off the Great Ocean Road with incredible views of the hinterland and ocean. If you're looking for somewhere to stay that is both secluded and peaceful, this is the place to be. The spot is perfect for a romantic getaway or for a family of 4 - with a second bedroom and lots of room for the kids to roam around. The hosts were a pleasure to deal with right from the very start, happy to answer any questions I might have had and accommodate to our needs! The rooms itself were in immaculate condition - clean, new & modern. The kitchen had full cooking amenities and the complimentary coffee, tea, biscuits, cereal and milk were also a bonus. We loved the deep soak bath which was perfect after a long days drive. We were even treated with a visit from kangaroos in the morning - making it very hard to leave. Thank you Carolyn & Alistair, you should be very proud of what you have created and more people to need to know about it!

Amazing people, great tips on where to go on either a long or short walk and where to eat. Surrounded by native wildlife with fantastic views as the sunsets. It was just great!
