Alkina Lodge

Wow wow wow! This place is just stunning. We booked all 3 lodges to do the Great Ocean Walk and it was just perfect for it. It's so close to the track for pick ups and drop offs. The lodges are modern and spacious and have everything you could possibly need, especially super comfy beds and a bath! Our host was so lovely and helpful too.

Located just off the attractions of the Twelve Apostles, you get to wake up to > 20 Kangaroos just right on the frontage of the property. This stunning 4 bedroom luxurious stay has views overlooking greenery. On the way towards the property just off the highway, you can try to spot koalas as well!

We arrived in the evening with the hydronic heating turned on by the host. The fireplace was also prepared with logs and papers in place. My favourite would be the kitchen - loaded with appliances from Gaggenau, from cookers, oven to the steamer as well while the toaster is from SMEG. The kitchen was where we spent most of our time, just because the whole family ( of 7 ) could fit without brushing shoulders! We even took the chance to barbecue on our second night at the property - something to try while you are here. Thing to note here is that breakfast is not provided, and you have to get groceries from bigger towns such as Port Campbell, or Geelong - which we did. Not a hassle though as we enjoyed doing shopping and then heading back to prepare our dinner. In true asian fashion, we cooked curry chicken on our first night and had a barbecue on the second as mentioned!

My parents absolutely adored the stay, and it was one of the best stays we ever had too. Secluded in the right sense, the entire place to ourselves, away from traffic and the noise - and to be in nature! Although it poured on us for most of the time, we still managed to have fun just by relaxing in the property.

Also, one could not miss the HUGE toilet, with shampoo and body wash provided. The photos on the website are literally what you would get in real life! (ps, the master bathroom is probably as big as my bedroom)

Lastly, I would like to extend our thanks to the team, especially Joe and Georgia. They checked in on us through text due to the huge pouring rain. Overall, really great quality product, clean and a place one could call home even for a short period of time! Will definitely stay at Alkina's again!

Alkina was lovely, very clean, very white, modern, great amenities, loved the breakfast spread, kitchen is expansive and has everything you need, and the surrounds were beautiful.
My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights, it's very large for a couple and would be perfect for a group. Lots and lots of storage.
You enter the property down a long driveway lined with trees, some cheeky Kangaroos having a feed and a gorgeous view of the surrounds.
We stayed in building 2, which is the middle of 3, however as the buildings are completely separate and a distance from each other, we didn't hear, or see anyone else, whilst on our stay.
A few things I would like to have known prior to staying; no a/c (yes this is on the website, but somehow I missed it!), whilst there are blinds on some of the windows, it is very bright in the morning, so don't expect a sleep in. The outside seating area has a view directly out the large sliding door towards the trees, however it does feel limited given there is a long building on either side, private yes,
no wifi in the master bedroom, stock up on food prior to arriving, Wish we had booked for Cindy to make us a beautiful dinner one of the nights.

Alkina is such a luxurious accomodation in a beautiful location. We loved our stay here, especially waking up to all the kangaroos right outside our bedroom window! Amazing hosts and an incredible space to stay in.

Alkina lodge was fantastic for three generations of our family to stay at and enjoy time together. The facilities were fantastic, with plentiful space for everyone and an amazing kitchen to cook in! We're already planning our next trip.

Beautiful lodge with ample space. 4 bedrooms, TV room, large living room w/ kitchen that has almost everything ambitious cooks would need. Fireplace in main area makes winter evenings nice & cozy. Patio includes small Weber gas grill that is good for basics but don't count on it to feed 4+ adults. Master bedroom overlooking backyard w/ 25+ kangaroos grazing. Partial sea views, a brilliant night sky suited for star gazing and a very comfortable bed make this a special place to spend the night.
It's well worth the price.
Must plan ahead and self-cater as this is a remote location w/ nothing but nature surrounds. Much recommended!

This is probably one of the best Airbnb around that area.

The modern and chic architecture is awesome. The kitchen bench (lots of room to prepare food) and appliances are really great, even comes with a big cheese board which is very handy. We spent enjoyable evenings watching Netflix in the cosy TV room, and afternoons in the outdoor table with a very nice BBQ pit.

All the bedrooms are very comfortable, the best is the Master bedroom with a great view of the back lawn, ocean and .... lots of kangaroos! They are there in the morning, afternoon and evenings. That's the most unusual experience of just being so close to the kangaroos all the time.

The onsite managers are very friendly and supportive, gave us tips about the surrounding and where to get good coffee :)

Amazing Glenn Murcutt designed lodges located in the middle of nowhere - perfect! If you have an appreciation for architecture, design and nature, you will love this place especially, and it is perhaps one of the only ways you can inhabit a Glenn Murcutt dwelling. It is located 15 minutes drive to the Twelve Apostles but it's just a really nice place to relax and not do very much in. It is also very close to Wreck Beach, which is also a great experience with very few tourists.
Cindy and Jordan will make sure your stay is pleasant and comfortable. We also had the bonus of a visit from both a kangaroo and wallaby joey which Cindy and Jordan had rescued and were taking care of - the kids loved it! You will need to take your own food or have catering arranged with the lodge as there are no restaurants nearby due to its fairly remote location.

Weekend well spent away with our family. Our lodge was absolutely spotless & well organised. Great location. We hope to be back here in the future. Managers Joey & Georgia are superstars. Thanks for having us!

A truly excellent place. The property was a lovely place to spend new year's eve. It's almost like they pay the wildlife to put on a show every morning and evening. The property is so well designed to be cool in the summer and lovely and warm in the winter. I'm from the UK and I miss "real radiators" it was lovely to see them in use here providing a little bit of silent heat. Location is perfect if you are looking to be away from it all. Great place to explore the Great Ocean Road from only 20-25 mins from the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge etc. I also recommend doing the 9 Minute drive to Wreck Beach down the dirt road. (Turn left down Moonlight Head Rd)

We thoroughly loved our stay at Alkina Lodge. The luxury accomodation is huge and extremely private. The enormous, fully equiped kitchen makes self catering a breeze. We particularly relished sitting by the fireplace or relaxing in a bath after enjoying a day of exploring the pristine surrounds. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Wonderful experience. The lodge is well equipped with amenities. Hosts were super helpful and friendly. Felt relaxed and serene among nature and animals. So worth the asking fee.
