East Ridge (Logan's Ridge, Mt Barney)

Easily my favourite way up Mt Barney and probably my favourite rock scramble in Australia. No other route I know of in this country offers alpine style climbing like this, with sustained scrambling sections, amazing views, and an overall sensational experience. It’s a huge day out, only do this if fit and technically competent scrambling. Unlike some glass house mountains routes like caves route on Tibro you can avoid any monster exposure here, but still need a head for heights. Absolute 10/10. I did this alone but would not recommend that if you’re not experienced.

My favourite way up Mount Barney so far, the views are incredible and the climbing is really fun and engaging, without being so hard it is intimadating. I would not make this your first attempt at Barney unless you have had a bit of experience with exposed cliff faces and a bit of stamina. Experienced walkers will not have any issues, especially if you do your homework and study the route. It's only about 4 or 5km to the top but about 1100m of assent.

Don't try the east ridge if it's your first time and your on your own, I would only recommend doing it with an experienced guide as we did. This is the 3rd time I've been up there and still wouldn't do it on my own, we tool 6 liters each and went through it all.
