Our Metung Stays | Lakeview Retreat Metung

Every detail in this adorable home has been presented in the most delightful way. They even have marshmallows for the hot chocolate! The master bedroom is absolutely dreamy and the 2nd bedroom would be a child’s paradise, but equally comfy for adults. We kept finding little gems around the house like fresh pressed butter for breakfast, artistic cookbooks, a serious collection of teas (including loose tea), outdoor area large enough and well equipped enough to host the entire neighbourhood, a fire pit, games, and decorations even in the laundry area. Cannot commend the hosts enough for creating one of the most delightful holiday homes I’ve ever stayed in!

Our first impression when entering the Lakeview Retreat Metung stay was... wow! This has to be one of the nicest, cleanest and cutest short stays we've ever booked. So comfortable, well-appointed, beautifully designed and styled. The welcome treats were so lovely also. Paula and Jason are wonderful hosts, and we highly recommend you book this stay!

Our family of 3 stayed at Lakeview Retreat for 5 nights. It was extremely clean and beautifully presented. We loved our stay, felt like a home away from home. The location was perfect for us. It was really quiet and peaceful and only a short drive to Metung village and Lakes Entrance. Fantastic short walking trails along the Lake King. Highly recommend and would love to return. Nicely done up property, thoughtful super host(Paula) & truly relaxing environment sums up our stay at this property. To start with booking process was all simple and easy to get through and in readiness of our arrival, Paula shared all the necessary details to make our check-in easy & seamless.

The property is located in a really quite and standout location. The house has been done up with really good taste and the amenities do reflect that. Loved the way the kids bedroom is done and the patio where you can see Echidna, Rabbits and a host of birds sipping a cuppa! Paula is really thoughtful as the house is stocked well for your stay that includes a starter kit of local produce for your breakfast.

With easy access to Metung, Lakes Entrance, Bairnsdale and near by places we thoroughly enjoyed are stay, hope to be back sometime in the future.

On a road trip and decided to stay here, what an absolute gem. Seriously I would give 6 stars if I could and only negative is I didn’t stay longer. It has everything you need and very well thought of, the place was super clean and modern. The bed was one of the comfiest I’ve slept in and the views were spectacular, also the stunning pebble beach is only a short walk away. Also has the “little red bucket” nearby for some already made amazing Italian meals ready to go. Truly an amazing experience and a highlight of my holiday. Thanks for everything Paula, I will be back one day soon ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A very warmly presented cosy cottage by the water with lovely outlooks from all the windows. High quality decor & beautiful linen used. The extra touches of local artisan breakfast supplies is appreciated. Outdoor area extends the living space with lots of areas to relax. Window box seat to read or appreciate the water views. Great place to unwind, relax & enjoy the peace & quiet. Highly recommended!

Whether you're looking to get out on the water or relax by a fire with a wine, Lakeview Retreat has it all. Host Paula has created something special, taking advantage of the local produce and picturesque surroundings.

Our stay including all the necessities plus a generous supply of tasty breakfast jams, bread, honey and the most amazing butter! Amazing wildlife shares the property and we got to say hey to the friendly wombat and echidnas.

A short walk leads you to stunning sunset views over the water. Will recommend Lakeview to all my friends, thank you Paula.

We had a fantastic few days in Metung at Paula's studio. The place is exceptionally neat, tidy and homely with great facilities. We loved watching the sunrises on the front deck with incredible views of the lake and taking a stroll to the end of the road for the magnificent sunsets (with plenty of photo opportunities!). We made use of the fire pit and even roasted marshmallows over it. We also fed the birds each day and watched them flock to the newly built bird feeder which kept us entertained. The area itself is very quiet and peaceful and is only a short drive from the main village. Thank you Paula for a wonderful stay.

My partner and I stayed at Paula’s lovely Lakeview Retreat and were not disappointed! Aside from the space being so beautifully designed and decorated, we felt so cosy and comfortable. The highlight of our stay was spending the evenings outside by the fire pit, making barbecues and just enjoying the serenity. Paula was incredibly hospitable and went out of her way to provide helpful recommendations during our stay.
We loved it so much we are booking again for next month - can’t wait to be back! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Beautifully unfussy, our recent stay at Lakeview Retreat was exactly what we were after. The cabin is super clean, bright and comfy. Our ten year old loved the bunk bed room, she made herself at home straight away! The views from the main bedroom are stunning. It has everything you need. This is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for a quiet, restful and uncomplicated break.

Lakeview Retreat Metung is worth every cent you will spend. The owners were generous enough to provide us all the best that we can possibly need to make our stay like 'a home away from home'. Not to mention that house is literary spotless. Indeed it is luxury stay at its best ! Choose this accommodation, promise you will say the same things as what we had experienced.

The perfect blend of relaxation and comfort. Some wonderful little touches made the stay extra special. Netflix on any one of the 3 TVs was great to keep the kids entertained. Fire-dome with supplied firewood was great for the evening ambience. A light brekkie with fresh bread from the local Metung bakery, eggs, butter and jam was included. We valued the cooking appliances seeing as it's not always practical to be eating out every night with young children. The views and walks nearby were fantastic. Not many holiday stays cater for adults and children equally — Paula has created a wonderful balance at this place. Well done.

Every detail at the cottage made us feel comfortable and relaxed. We spent 1 week there and definitely I highly recommend this cosy place to a couple or family. Perfect location to immerse yourself in the coastal nature.

My friends and I booked this trip in July 2021 and had to postpone our trip for five times! Paula have been very accommodating with the correspondence and allowed to postpone at no additional charges to give us the peace of mind.

On our visit, we were wow-ed by the home as it was clean, nicely decorated and so many small and thoughtful touches throughout the house. The team did a great job in offering local produce for breakfast which made us wanting more. We particularly enjoyed the firepit and the morning view of the lake when you wake up. As much as we were excited to explore Gippsland we were equally excited to come home to this lovely house. It was definitely the perfect home-away-from-home.

Wow, what a special place this was!
We’ve stayed at many properties through other accomm websites over the year but none had such an amazing first impression as this one.
For one, the location was fantastic - we were out of town, the area was very quiet and serene and we had water views from the front porch AND the main bedroom.
This house was gorgeous and the fit out from the renovation was very good quality (and if you’re inclined that way, perfect for instagram!). The house had such a lovely feel to it and our hosts were lovely enough to supply us with fresh local bread, eggs, locally made raspberry jam and fresh butter (such a beautiful touch)!
The bedding was so soft, much better quality than I would expect and to wake up to the view of the water from the picture window at the foot of our bed was perfection.
On the Saturday we sat around the fire pit (we’ve never lit a fire before but it was very easy with wood, kindling, pls newspaper and matches supplied) where we sipped red wine and toasted our engagement.
I highly recommend this property for couples, a small group or a small family.

We are a family of 2 adults, a 6 yo and an 8 yo. We stayed at Lakeview Retreat in Winter. It was a wonderful stay, and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. The property was in immaculate condition and felt a real treat to stay in. The decor was simple and very calming. We were supplied with delicious local produce for breakfast including bread, eggs and spreads. Despite very cold weather the cottage remained cosy at night with good heating and really warm bed-linen, with plenty of extra blankets if we needed them. The built-in bunks in the kids room were the source of a lot of excitement for them. And again were so comfortable we adults would have happily slept in there. Boardgames in the cottage kept us entertained at night.
The location was perfect for us. It's a little outside of Metung town, but we made an adventure of it and walked the foreshore of the lake all the way in one morning. It's also a comfortable bike ride in if you don't mind climbing hills on the way back. There are nature walking trails within metres of the door of Lakeview Retreat, with opportunities to spot wildlife. We saw an echidna, wombats, and wallabies. The 100 steps walk down to the lake takes you down to a beautiful stretch of shoreline that is perfect for morning walks.
Paula was a great host. Communication was excellent and we knew she was on call to help if we needed any advice on local attractions etc. Thanks for our lovely stay Paula.

My family stayed at Paula’s cabin for a couple nights and didn’t want to leave. It’s clean, stylish and has lots of thoughtful touches, super comfortable beds and a well catered kitchen. Great hikes at your doorstep with amazing sunsets and views of the lake. Evenings spent in the back roasting marshmallows over the little fire pit. Looking forward to returning soon.

We loved our one week stay here. The interiors, the views, the peace and quiet and the carefully thought out details made it a beautiful home away from home. The first provided breakfast of local products was a winner and had us stocking up on local supplies to bring back to Melbourne. Thank you for a lovely and peaceful retreat on the lake.

We loved our stay at the Lakeview Retreat Metung, especially waking up to the gorgeous sunrises from the bedroom looking straight our across the lake and the little window seat is the prefect place to curl up with a cup of tea and take in the sunset no matter that the weather is outside. The cozy studio is perfect for couples and has amazing walking tracks near by and only a short drive into the Metung village. A fully equipped kitchen means you don't have to leave if you don't want. The landscaped gardens are lovely to enjoy with a glass of red around the firepit. We highly recommend a stay at the Lakeview Retreat, kick back, relax and do as much or as little as you like.
