Pig and Whistle Hotel | Trentham VIC

Haven’t been back to this place since Covid and the new owner took over when I was a rep for the area but so happy to see them doing well and thriving. The meals were outstanding! For a little pub out in the middle of nowhere we were amazed by the quality and flavour! I had a beef and Guinness pie, husband had lamb shanks and everything was fresh and homely. Peas I reckon were fresh even! They were packed but the kitchen was managing their meals well and we didn’t have to wait long at all. We will be back and we will be boating back to Ballarat of this find!

Great pub for a fantastic feed! Staff are brilliant, food is delicious, and six of us loved our afternoon here. Cold beers on a hot day, in a terrific beer garden - what more could you want!

First time having lunch here. The service was fantastic, the staff warm and welcoming. Nice and warm by the fire. Steak was cooked perfectly. Dessert was delicious. Will come back

Used to going pre Covid but hadn’t been under the new owners and new renovations. Second visit in two weeks. GO!
Luckily we live close by.
Lovely atmosphere. Great beer garden and dog 🐶 friendly. Food good. Deserts to die for the Banana split is a new twist on an olde staple and delicious (and filling). Prices do reflect quality. Bookings certainly recommended public holidays and some sunny weekends - been caught out in the past and is a popular stopping point for drives and car/bike groups.

What a charmer this place is! A hidden gem in the beautiful countryside, this place has it all - including the best Parma you will ever have👌
Our young girls had the best time! It was so kind of you to take the time to introduce them to your beautiful animals 🫶 We loved the outside area and playground too, the beer garden is a lovely spot, perfect all year round. We can't wait to come back! Thank you for a terrific day

We were travelling with our caravan. We asked Eammon(the owner) if we could stay on the side of the road. We were told to park on the block beside the pub, which we did. This pub will soon be on Country Pub Camping. We bought butter chicken from the food van and ate it inside the pub. Delicious 👌Highly recommend this pub 👍😊

We went camping in Lerderderg State Park for the weekend and made the extra drive from Melbourne specifically to eat here. We made a booking outside and the staff made special effort to accommodate us inside (despite being fully booked) and gave great service. The sticky pork ribs and house pie were excellent. Several staff checked on us and were super friendly. We will definitely be coming back!

We popped in for a late Sunday lunch and the Pig and Whistle did not disappoint. Delicious, warming comfort food, outstanding service, bustling vibe.

We recently celebrated our son's birthday at the Pig & Whistle and it was the best day! The staff were amazing, so thoughtful and had great communication. Everything was smooth from the booking, to choosing the menu and arriving on the day with nothing to do at all. We enjoyed the beer garden space, which was perfect for the kids and just the loveliest atmosphere on a sunny, winters day. Thank you so much to Eammon and his team for being such incredible, genuine hosts for our family and friends, who have travelled far and wide be there. We appreciate it all. Thank you!! 🙂

10/10 would highly recommend!! Services was amazing, we had a delay in waiting for our table but staff kept us informed and also offered solution whilst we waited!! Food was exceptional and the wait was not long at all!! Will definitely be going back again soon!!

Beautiful country pub. Food and staff amazing. Our only negative was that it was a very chilly with light rain on the day and we ate in the lovely beer garden as we had our dog with us. We were surprised there were no heaters or undercover seating for winter weather. Even having a few fire pits lit or portable gas heaters would have made our visit more enjoyable. There were several diners in the beer garden with dogs and they all thought the same.
We would have definitely stayed longer, perhaps had coffees and dessert if it hadn’t been so chilly.

First time up to the Pig & Whistle in Trentham and it was such a wonderful day. Beautiful, warm atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service and a stunning countryside view. Food was flavoursome and gourmet, top pub quality. Highly recommend anytime you are visiting Trentham. Also very pleased to see it was LQBTQIA+ and dog friendly.

Fabulous friendly and efficient staff. Food was wonderful with an Asian influence. Spring rolls and chicken wings were great. Will try the curry next time. Well done Eamon and team

What a great well run pub!!!
As a group of 4 people we booked a table on our travels in the area.
We all really enjoyed our tasty and generous meals, drinks, live music and a fantastic atmosphere.
The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and customer service focused.
The publican and his team run a great pub.
Highly recommend you visit and enjoy this great pub.

This place is absolutely beautiful! Log wood fires burning in every room. The food and customer service cannot be faulted. We have definitely found another favourite.

Best pub I’ve been to during my travels through Australia! Great atmosphere, cozy interior with lots of interesting photos of the past, good food and extra nice staff! Great place for kids as well!
I ended up working in the Pig & Whistle for 3 months on my working holiday visa and really enjoyed my time there. Very fair work environment, lots of benefits and a very fun place to work! Especially, Eammon, the owner of the pub, gives a very unique and amazing atmosphere to the pub, in the front and in the back. He‘ll make you feel very welcome, he’s always in good spirits and has a good joke on his lips. Definitely recommending the Pig & Whistle! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lovely location, warm open fireplaces perfect for a winter meal. Delicious food and generous portions. Pork spare ribs that melt in your mouth.

Atmosphere was fantastic. Great mix of locals, 🐎 Horse riders and motorbike 🏍 riders. Highly recommended 👌

The open fires were most welcome on a cold winters day. (Apparently, when my partner and I visited - 13th June '24 - it was the coldest day for five years! 😲)

Before our fabulous lunch... she did some sketching... I read the paper & did the crossword... and we both left feeling as full as a centipede's sock-drawer! (So we had to walk the 'Domino [rail] Trail' from Trentham Station to Lyonville and back, to help our lunch go down). 😊
