Grand Hotel Zell am See

Great hotel in superb location - beside the lake and in the town. Fantastic staff - everyone helpful and friendly. The hotel was very nicely decorated for Christmas - in red and gold. Varied entertainment and activities offered. There are 2 spa areas, the grand spa on 6th floor has spectacular views. Half board includes a varied breakfast, an afternoon snack and dinner. The food is far nicer than the menu describes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location of the hotel is great. The views of the lake from our bedroom were magnificent. Every morning I would go out on the balcony to look at it. The staff were really really nice from the reception to the restaurant staff (special mention to Katalin, Endi, Bruno, Norbert & Gabor who served us every morning and evening) and bar staff (Endo). There was entertainment at dinner some nights (singer) and in the bar other nights which was really nice and created a lovely atmosphere. The hotel had 2 spas, I went to the Grand spa which was excellent and I also availed of a treatment (massage) after skiing one day. It was one of the best massages I have got in a hotel so special thank you to Sandan for this. I would highly recommend staying at the Grand Hotel, Zell Am See and I would love to go back in the future.

The room we chose was spacious, clean, had a pleasant smell every time the housekeeping team comes to clean
The lake view was very spectacular. We tried the pedal boat and had an amazing experience (it is provided for free)
The breakfast was the best! Had a great variety of food and was delicious

Disadvantage;
No good options for vegetarian at dinner
Otherwise it was the best. Highly recommend and would come again.

My Wife and I stayed 20-27 Jan at the Grand Hotel and what a wonderful experience it was. This is how a true quality hotel is run in the old style. Facilities, cleanliness, food, entertainment, staff friendliness and helpfulness, thoughtful touches and attention to detail were all superb. The location beside the lake is breathtaking. We stayed half board and the huge range and quality of food on offer was simply superb. Rimi, Nihal and Endi couldn't have been more attentive and pleasant waiters but we found all the staff we came across in every area were so pleasant and helpful. Each course of the evening meal menu had cleverly and thoughtfully a meat, vegetarian or fish option. The Grand Spa was fabulous for recovering from skiing (and de-stressing). An example of a thoughtful touch was the coffee and snacks available for those departing at 6:00 am. Lunch bags were also provided if you requested. I could say much more about this wonderful place but, suffice to say we will definitely be returning.

The rooms have an amazing view. The staff are great and very friendly. The free-of-charge paddle boat was a wonderful experience.

If you're looking for a great hotel in a prime location, look no further! This place is just a stone's throw away from bars and restaurants, making it easy to enjoy everything the area has to offer. The restaurant is particularly impressive, with delicious food and exceptional service. The buffet breakfast and 5-course evening meal are especially noteworthy. Plus, the hotel has not one but two spas, with the one on the top floor being particularly modern and luxurious (although be aware that it's a nude spa and no children are allowed).

The only downsides were the afternoon tea (which was a bit of a letdown) and the fact that the heating was far too hot with no controls in the room. We had to leave the window open to cool down, which unfortunately led to coughs and colds. Additionally, the restaurant was quite warm and uncomfortable at times. But all in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again myself.

We were booked into the Grand Hotel through a ski package and were delighted by the quality of the hotel. The family room was large, with plenty of wardrobe space and airing space for ski and exercise gear. The half-board food was excellent - the breakfast buffet had plenty of options (including protein and veg for people planning a long day of hard exercise) and the dinner was consistently delicious.
The kids loved the pool and there's plenty of nice spots to relax outside of the room, including a very pleasant bar and cafe.
The whole hotel is very warm, especially the rooms over night, as someone who runs hot I actually found I had to open windows to let in the below-freezing air occasionally.
My bit of advice would be - ask about inclusions! We discovered when we left we had hotel credit and a free afternoon snack we had never used.

Enjoyed a relaxing sit down and iced coffee by the lake. Wonderfully relaxing. The sound of the Hundertwasser style fountain was lovely too. Didn't stay at the hotel. Stayed nearby with friends

Great service and really delicious food. They have several 5-course sets (54euro) but the courses can be interchangeable flexibly. Love the atmosphere and the scenery right next to the lake 🥰

We had a wonderful stay here, the staff are just wonderful and so friendly. The food was magnificent as well, I couldn't speak more highly about this hotel and I will definitely be back.

Stayed in this hotel January 2023 . What a hotel !! Everything was perfect. Hotel staff were very pleasant and so helpful . Restaurant staff were so friendly and always looked after the children in our group! Gret location and ski bus was great . Would definitely return and recommend. I dont know how anyone could possible give this hotel a bad review !

For context, this was my first time at this hotel and my first time in zell am see.

I’m giving this hotel 5 stars *not* because everything is perfect, but because the net experience was extremely enjoyable.

Grand hotel is an older hotel, and it shows. It’s not falling apart but things are older feeling. The rooms and facilities are all decent but not hyper-clean, modern or minimalist. It could probably stand to have a few renovations.

I came in with not a lot of expectation which definitely plays into this. I think if you had really high expectations maybe you’d find things fell a little short.

For us though we had a really great time. We had a lake view room and the view was magnificent. The room itself was solid. Not outstanding but everything was in order, bed was comfortable, it met expectations.

Similarly the view from the grounds and various parts of the hotel like the grand spa are incredible. The grand spa was the standout part of the hotel for me. A series of saunas and steam rooms and a relaxation room with an unbeatable view.

Again for the food I didn’t come in with much expectation, and I found the breakfast and dinner service to be pretty solid and sufficiently enjoyable. I had a duck breast one night for dinner that was way better than I expected it to be. And the Belgian waffles at breakfast were another standout. All staff were also very kind and helpful.

In my opinion, some of the other reviews giving 1-2 stars are very unfair. At the very least, certainly not reflective of my experience. If you’re coming to zell am see outside of the winter months I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else

Amazing hotel with staff who could not do enough for you. They made a great effort on New Year's Eve especially. Food is fantastic. Location is wonderful with a very efficient bus surplice to slopes. Travelled.in a family of 4 with 2 kids who also loved pool and spa. Would definitely return.
