Worth the drive south to see this place! It’s a 4th century monastery and the views are incredible. Beautiful monastery too. 10/10 would see again. The drive there is also stunning.

One of the most beautiful monasteries in the country. And not very crowded.

The monastery itself is beautiful, much larger than many of the others. The main building is pretty imponent. The surrounding buildings have several corridors and rooms, with some dangerous parts for older people or people with issues walking.

The landscape around the monastery is breathtaking. This is a great place for pictures.

In the small square building outside the walls, you can find a small museum.

Women must cover their hair when inside the main building. There are some pieces of cloth that can be used for this purpose.

My daughter's favorite monastery in Armenia. The Wings of Tatev was pretty amazing, the 9th century monastery holds so much history. This is where our national hero, Garegin Nzhdeh, was fighting the Turks attempting to overtake our Syunik province.

Amazing place. Different ways to get there. I personally walked to the main road out of Goris and hitched as far as Devil's Bridge. It's a challenging track up from there and utterly beautiful. Tatev has the large monastery complex, car parks, WCs, souvenir stalls and some of the most fabulous views imaginable. It's all free unless you opt for the cable car and/or a taxi.

Quite a big place to visit. There’s a observation point further up the road where you can take the monastery from top down with the canyon view

I love old structures. I am amazed seeing at the monasteries with all its rooms still in tact to this date. If you have ample time, enter the rooms of the monastery and feel the vibes inside. Ita alao amazing that during summer when i visited, the weather ia hot especially when you are under the sun but when you go inside the rooms in the monastery, the windows are small, just enough for light to enter but it is cool inside.

Tatev Monastery is the best place I have visited in Armenia.
It is far away from Yerevan, but worth to visit.
The mountains are very beautiful and magical, you can reach the Monastery by the Ropeway. The scenery is magical and I cannot describe my experience.
I recommend everyone to visit this place.

This place cannot be missed when visiting armenia. To get here from yerevan is unrealisticly long but it's well worth it. Loved it

Even though the place is very popular and full of tourists, it is must visit indeed! The Wings of Tatev the cable car to get to the Monastery is an incredible experience with great views.
The Monastery has got a Creamery just outside of the main building so don't miss out! You could read a few interesting facts in there ad also see interactive video of how everything had functioned in old days.
Shame we could not see one of the parts of the main building as maintenance was were held at the time we were there a few weeks ago.

A very historical monastery for the Armenian, they have done a very good effort to restore and maintain the monastery. The swinging columns was an unexpected artifacts which i didn't expect but is truly amazing to know that back in days they had these things to detect the vibrations. The Bishops room had superb views and the dining Hall's secret entrance was another surprise. Very unique monastery with quite a lot of heritage. Don't miss it especially if you are coming through the ropeway.

Absolutely fantastic place, this is a must visit place when visiting Armenia. The view from the monastery is awesome, not to mention the one from Tatev wings.

Tatev is cool not only because if the amazing scenery, but because of the unique cableway, world-longest, that lets you feel like an eagle, eyeing over the gorge, abandoned ancient villages, amazing experience. Revived by Vardanyan, Armenian millionaire, who made his fortunes in Russia, it is a comfortable place to visit now. Tatev was a university that helped to preserve and advance Armenian culture. Study room I saw was tiny, and you were suppose to stand up, with one open wall facing beautiful gorge!
