Located 90 km north of Yerevan, Noratus Cemetery is a fascinating place. Here you will see a large number of ornate khachkars (Armenian cross-stones) erected for the salvation of souls, which have been listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. They are some of the most beautifully carved gravestones I have seen anywhere in the world.

This is bigger than what i had expected. You will notice lots of different types of gravestones and all are carved professionally. Good off-road site.

Amazing place! I would never believe that this place has so many historic gravestones! I even read a story of the person who was buried there! It is incredible! I highly recommend this place for visiting!

A place full of khachkars, literally meaning "cross stones".
It is the biggest khachkar-occupied territory in Armenia!
They are very beautiful! Every one of them is unique. All of them are delicate, covered with cute ornaments. You can walk to Daputs monastery which is close to it.
You must visit this place if you are travelling in Armenia!

Одно из старейших и крупнейшее кладбище хачкаров. Возможно, возраст кладбища превосходит возраст самой деревни. Первые хачкары здесь датируются ещё поздней античностью, IV-V веками нашей эры, однако большинство наиболее красиво украшенных надгробий относятся к XIII веку. Среди известных могил: погребение местного князя, память о том времени, когда Норатус был резиденцией армянских князей - меликов, и могила монаха Тер Карапет Оватеси-Овакимяна. Согласно легенде этот достопочтенный старец не боялся ничего и не кого, кроме Господа, и потому, если прийти на его могилу с бутылкой воды, выпить воду, а саму бутылку разбить о его хачкар, можно избавиться от любого страха.
Вход на кладбище свободный, однако, я рекомендую обязательно найти местную бабушку, которая проведёт вам небольшую экскурсию по самым интересным хачкарам. После экскурсии бабушку надо отблагодарить вознаграждением в 2000-3000 тысячи драм (500-800 рублей).
Приезжать на кладбище лучше всего во второй половине дня, ближе к вечеру, когда стройные ряды хачкаров, кажется, будто, смотрят на уходящее в закат солнце. Картина неописуемой красоты и печали.

Удивительное и неповторимое место. Таинственное и умиротворяющее. Древнее и одухотворенное. Атмосфера красоты и покоя на фоне гор. Нигде такого в Армении больше не встречала. Изюминка. Монастырей много, такое кладбище одно.

Quest'importante cimitero storico attualmente in uso è diventato il primo per importanza dopo che quello di Jugha è stato distrutto dall'esercito dell'Azerbaigian. La sua importanza risiede nel numero di Khachkar, le croci armene: ognuna di queste è differente dal resto per i motivi decorativi e le proporzioni anche se lo stile è ovviamente lo stesso.

非常值得一看的古迹，欧盟基金项目。如果正好遇上夕阳和末世感的暗黑系云层，那种穿透历史的沧桑感，无以言表。
