Very cool castle ruins! The views from up there are incredible! Mountains everywhere and perfect sunset spot

The best view in Vlorë! It's a little bit of a hike to get to the top, but it is absolutely worth it.

You get what you expect to get from castle ruins. We were there in winter season and everything was opened, no entrance fee, no working hours even if officially was written that in winter season it's opened till 16:00 and anyway have entrance fee. Could be a nice place for picnic and definitely for observation of sunset.

one of the most incredible views I’ve ever seen! Looked straight out of a movie. A MUST VISIT!!!

This place gets 5 stars for the view to Vlores. Not much of the castle is left though it’s clear it was massive. This is not a problem but I wish there were more signs speaking to the history of this place. You can also drive nearly to the top which is a plus!

Kaninë Castle (Albanian: Kalaja e Kaninës) is a castle in the village Kaninë near Vlorë, in southwestern Albania.

This castle was built in the village with the same name which is about 6 kilometres (4 mi) from Vlorë. The castle rises on the side of the Shushica Mountain, about 380 metres (1,250 ft) above sea level. The castle was built on the site of an ancient settlement, one of the oldest in the Vlora region. The castle is believed to have been erected in the 3rd century B.C. In the 4th century B.C. the castle was transformed into a fortress town. In the 6th century A.D. the castle was reconstructed by Justinian I. The castle was the center of the Principality of Valona in the 14th century.

The settlement covers an area of 3.6 hectares.

Never imagined that it could be so huge, beautiful view of Ionian sea, Vlora city and it has such historical significance. Perfect to watch sunsets and to explore even Kanina village.

Very simple it doesn't have shops yet and no man development just a caslt on top of a hill that views the city of Vlore and the breath taking Adriatic sea

One piece of history and great view

There is no castle, just a fragment of a brick wall that I believe was a castle several years ago. The view from the Castle itself is spectacular! not so difficult to go up on foot. Check it out yourself.

Worth visit for great views on Vlora and riviera. There is admission of 100 LEK but we didn't pay, because there was no one there (we found the hut for the keeper but it was empty). Castle ruins are not so impressive, go there mostly for views. Also road is now resurfaced mostly (musch better than seen on street view).
